Dear Editor;

I was pleased to find several articles on Autism in the Wave last
week. It is a subject that hits close to home for me and several other
families in our area. My 6-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 18 months old. I was especially pleased to read that Adam Kapelner, a high school senior, was interested in how Secretin affects Autistic children and is a semi-finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search.

I know he is interested in proposing some research projects to further medical knowledge, which most certainly will help our children.  My daughter is one if those children that Secretin did not work for. She also received her MMR shots after her diagnosis so that wasn't the cause of her Autism, as so many people believe. We will never know what causes Autism, but with more people
like you on our side, we may be able to one day finally find a cure.
Adam....if my family can be of any assistance to you in your studies and
research on this subject, please feel free to contact me. We will be crossing our fingers for you in the finals. Good Luck!
