On The Beach… With Beverly Baxter

On The Beach… With Beverly Baxter

On these long cold blustery winter days and nights wouldn't it be just sooo wonderful to dip your tired stiff body into a nice hot Jacuzzi underneath a blanket of stars as the snow is gently falls down from the sky. How about treating yourself to the luxurious pampering treatments of a resort spa! Well, although we don't have The Ashram, Golden Door, La Costa, or the many Tony spas of the west coast, we do, however, have many wonderful spas that are merely a nice drive-by-car away!

Canyon Ranch, located in the magestic Berkshire Mountains in Lenox Massachusetts in the restored Bellefontaine Mansion, is a wonderful place to retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday life. There you can experience a complete array of treatments that range from the classic Canyon stone massage and Persian body polish to the exotic Thai massage and Ayurvedic treatments to the truly luxurious Lulur, a full body beauty ritual from Java that includes a soak in a tub full of rose petals! You must be thoroughly tempted by now!

In need of a really quick jump-start? Then The Spa at Norwich Inn in Connecticut would be just the place for you to get away to! Some of us are lucky enough to know that it takes a lot more (or rather, less) than Chinese herbs, tofu, and chanting to achieve inner peace. It really isn't all that complex at all! But The Spa at Norwich Inn offers state-of-the-art facilities and a 12 million dollar renovation. At heart, it is a country inn that embodies the grace, charm, and elegance of old New England. Guests can stay either in the historic inn, built in the 1920s or in one of the more recently built private villas that are nestled into the woods. Amenities include a 18 hole PGA Golf Course, horseback riding, tennis, a full fitness
center, body treatments, massage, hydrotherapy, and skin care. So...what are you waiting for?!

Going still further up the coast and deeper into New England is the Stowflake Mountain Resort Spa in Stowe, Vermont. Located between a quaint New England Village and a magestic mountain range, the resort offers in addition to its spa facilities, the fun of snow shoe and cross country skiing. The spa offers six treatment rooms, a fully equipped fitness center, indoor as well as outdoor polls, Jacuzzi, steam room, and a sauna. Among the massages offered are La Stone, Swedish, and Shiatsu. Reiki, Reflexology, and in-room services are offered as well. There are a wide variety of body
treatments and facials are also available. Here is charming place to work out while body toning, spinning, circuit training, or kickboxing to really pump up a sweat. You can also bike ride, ski, roller blade, and take a fun sleigh ride in the snow! Give my friend Dorothy Dunn a call....and away to another world you'll go!
If like me you appreciate the art of Haute Couture then you'll be sadly disappointed to know that renowned Designer Yves Saint Laurent has taken his final bow ending a beautiful era in High Fashion. His retirement means the permanent closure of his legendary workrooms where he designed and created fashions for legendary women like Catherine Deneuve. His rise to the height of the fashion world began when, at the age of 21, he took over the fashion house of Christian Dior who had the most profound influence on his designs. Although the Yves Saint Laurent Ready-To-Wear Label was sold to Gucci two years ago, he still continued designing Haute Couture. His most noted contributions to fashion include the Safari look, the Tuxedo for women, and Mondrian dress. His designs can still be seen and appreciated in the Costume Collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Bon retirement to a brilliant fashion master!

Special Birthday wishes to Teresa Baxter who wears it so well!

See you....On the Beach!
