NAACP: Friend Or Foe?

NAACP: Friend Or Foe?

Dear Editor;

I attended the November 15th, monthly NAACP meeting and was quite impressed with the panel. However, it does not change the past history of the tarnished NAACP. I was hoping the president, Ed Williams, would be there to defend the NAACP on the attacks against it that I would have brought to the surface. Ed Williams once said, the NAACP would begin a new community relation. In my opinion, you can’t have a new relation of any kind or organization unless you deal with its past. For example, Harry Moore, who was in leadership of the NAACP in the state of Florida, at one time made a significant change within the community he served. Because of the advancement he made to the community of color, the greeds of our society was disturbed by that and had him removed. The sleazy organization NAACP, went along with the greeds and yet continued to do fundraisers in his name. Another example here recently in the state of Pennsylvania, two white officers shot down a black guy and the NAACP was warned not to hold their convention in the state of Pennsylvania. They did so against the wishes of the positive Blacks, Latinos and Whites. Yet another example, in the state of Minnesota, an eleven-year-old boy along with a white boy was accused of a murder and random shooting. The white boy was excused but they tried the black boy as an adult. The NAACP was instructed to look the other way. So, as I said to the distinguished panel on November 15, we must change the leadership here and abroad. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t pander to anyone. I would be remiss if I didn’t say that Frances Johnson, who is a member of that panel can play a significant role about bringing changes within the NAACP branch here in Far Rockaway as she’s shown a strong leadership when she was the T.A. President at Beach 41 Street.

So, if Ed Williams was a real concerned person for the community of color, he would step aside and let this panel go forth. I say this because of my dealings with Ed Williams in the past has shown that he’s nothing more than a liar, a manipulator, and a user. Peace!

J.T. HOLLAND
