Pepper Steppers Dance To Victory

Stan Pepper Steppers 2001 World Champion Double Dutch team of Far Rockaway, Queens placed 1st in speed, 2nd and 3rd in the best of show categories. The Steppers dazzled the audiences of Harlem’s world famous Apollo Theatre with a breathtaking show of speed. This was performed by three of Stan’s 8th grade and high school teams, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. They also placed 2nd and 3rd place in the best of show categories.

The Apollo Theatre, which is located at 253 West 125th street, hosted its Tenth Annual Double Dutch Holiday Classic; featuring the sport (compulsory and speed) and dance (music with tricks and dance routines) with outfits designed by individual teams.

The Pepper Steppers team of jumpers and coaches are all from the Rockaway peninsula- including an extended family of jumpers throughout the United States and abroad. Prior to the start of the tournament, the Pepper Steppers extended their sympathy to the victims and families of Flight 587 and the World Trade Center disaster victims.

The Pepper Steppers practice at the Sorrentino Recreation center in Far Rockaway, Queens.

The team members are: Laa’Neisha Jones, Monet Davis, Alaisya Woodward, Jocelyn Castoneda, Paula Robinson, Shanae Wallace, Dominique Bacote, Muniyra Moore, Denis Clemonds, Cherise Barton, Tanisha Holiday, Portia Woodard, LaQuasha Brown, Glenda Thompkins, Camay Cardwell, Ruby Mejia, Jason Pizarro, Janell Lockett, Dominique Harris, Cheryl Barton, Patrice Saunders, Kimberly Salmond, Kethamara Gorousingh, Ebonie Johnson, Aamira Moore, Natasha Sable, Marissa Webber-Bey, Lorraine Ramsay, Katrina Stubbs.

The coaches are Stan Brown, Yattee Brown, Tiffany Taylor, Linda Brown, Carol Walker.
