Absolute Anarchy

Absolute Anarchy

Dear Editor;

Though it is understandable that the principal of Beach Channel High School wants changes in traffic regulations after the hit and run incident, I have to disagree with his suggestions to slow traffic and build new medians. Simply see to it that the students use the crosswalk and wait for green lights. It is absolute anarchy on Beach channel Drive the way large groups of students step out in front of oncoming traffic and jump off medians without regard to traffic lights and rarely do they walk to crosswalks. This situation extends to the Rockaway Freeway where there is no regard for lights or use of sidewalks.

The local precinct should have police warn those students who disregard traffic regulations and if the problem persists, tickets should be written for violations. The existing traffic regulations are sufficient to protect the students and the drivers, if they are enforced.

JANET BRADY
