Praises Ferry Service

Praises Ferry Service

To the Editor:

I would like to express my gratitude to the gentlemen running the new
commuter ferry from Riis Landing to Sheepshead Bay.  With all the
disruptions in subway/bus services and the restrictions on driving into
Manhattan, the ferry provided a nice, relaxing (even enjoyable) and
dependable way to begin the morning's commute!

When and if the boat has needed servicing, a van has been provided in its place, no one is ever stranded.  The gentlemen running the service have offered their cell phones, in case someone is running a few minutes late, they can be informed and asked to wait.

The partners in this group have been working with the city and state
governments to subsidize the ferry -- so the cost would remain minimal.
They are also working to extend the run, further into Brooklyn and into
Manhattan. They have renovated a building so that the ferry passengers will have a waiting room.

These gentlemen heard the need for ferry service, and have come through.
Advertisements have been run in the Wave and in the Pointer since the
beginning of September, but people still don't know about the service.  Last week, a Letter to the Editor asked what had happened to the "promised" ferry -- I would like to tell everyone that it is here, and waiting for passengers!  Where are all the people who clamored for a ferry?

Now that it is here, we need to show it truly was needed and necessary to our commute.
