A New Team For Rockaway

A New Team For Rockaway

Rockaway has been laboring for years under the poor representation of our two City Council members. Juanita Watkins was over her head from the start, the choice of a Democratic machine that was more interested in loyalty than in competency. Al Stabile was the invisible man. Once he won the race against the elderly and failing Walter Ward, Stabile threw a couple of bucks of discretionary money at Rockaway and then quickly disappeared from the scene. He has not been heard from since. Whether or not he is guilty of the things that he has been charged with is almost irrelevant to Rockaway. He was never here for us. They certainly did not work together as a team for Rockaway. We would be surprised if they ever said more than a few words to each other in the years that they served side-by-side in the City Council. As a result of term limits, both of them are gone, however, and we have a new team of city council members. Rockaway now has James Sanders, Jr. as the council member for the 31st District and Joe Addabbo, Jr. as the council member for the 32nd District. It is our understanding that they have already met to discuss how they can work together for the good of the entire peninsula. That is good news indeed, and it portents good things for Rockaway. We congratulate the two new men on the block on their wins and remind them that campaign promises are made to be kept. We expect great things from them and so does the community
