Irresponsible on Bay

Irresponsible on Bay

Dear  Editor:

The response by EPA official Mark
Lanigan 10/13/01 p. 6 , "What do you expect us to do,"  in regards to the raw sewage in the bay  screams for
some comment. Mark, I expect you not to violate the public trust, the environment, and our intelligence
with your arrogance.  I expect you to be responsible and report to the public not just to the NPS and I
expect you and your colleagues to conduct a thorough engineering study to determine the cause and remedy to this obviously flawed design or construction. As anyone who has cracked the cover of a civil
engineering text knows the basic principals of this type of plant are as old as the Roman aqueducts; it is
inconceivable that redundancy or robustness was not part of the design.  Mark, it's time for some answers
and some science. I want to know the details down to the aggregate of the concrete. I what to know who
let the bids and which politicians and  "officials" got, kickbacks. I expect, no, demand nothing less.
