St. Thomas CYO Girls Soccer
By Pam Henderson
The St. Thomas More 1st grade girls’ soccer team is off to a fantastic start. They have played 2 games so far this season against their friendly rivals from St. Francis de Sales. Forward Jessica Jamin has scored 4 goals over those first two games. Her big sisters Lauren and Jennifer, who also happen to be terrific soccer players, must be so proud of her. Goalie Elizabeth Cardinale has shown excellent goal keeping skills and is one of the reasons the team remains undefeated. Forwards Kristen Corral, Shannon Hynes, Siobhan Sammon and Tara Muoio add speed and skill to the offensive line.
There is excellent midfield play by Cindy Henderson, Mackenzie Thompson, Lauren Malloy, Summer Colleran and Alyssa Durante. They have helped keep the ball away from the opposing team. Great defense is led by Emily Dripchak, Julie Maloney and Vickie Owens, which have helped their goalies tremendously in allowing only 1 goal to be scored over two games.
During the games, the girls all switch to different positions so they can learn a little about each aspect of the game. The girls are having a great time learning about the game of soccer. After every game, they all say they can't wait for the next one.
Special thanks must go to Theresa Malloy, Chuck Thompson, Bob Jamin and Steve Dripchak for all their help during the games and to all the parents who come out and cheer the children on. Our next game is Saturday, October 13 at 1:30 pm in Roxbury against OLBS.
