Notes From The High C’s
Clear and Present Danger! Words that are unfamiliar to our very existence in this great country of safety and freedom. On September 11, 2001, the impossible , the unthinkable, the unimaginable became a reality, destruction of the World Trade Center, terrorists!!
Not only were two symbols of our great city and country shattered, with loss of life in the thousands, but will our security and attitude forever have been altered?
Clear and Present Danger!
Will we allow these words to dominate our thinking, control our behavior and interfere with our daily life? I am sure that all of us have moments of fear. The safety or our families, our children, has priority. Can we ever again get aboard a plane or take an elevator up into a skyscraper, or even shop at Macy’s?
This past week, I was driving through the Queens Midtown Tunnel. For a brief moment, my thoughts focused on a terrorist possibility. Could the vehicle next to me or behind me have a bomb and be on a mission to blow up this tunnel? I am sure that I am not alone in my concerns.
A world of Clear and Present Danger!
I would like to share quotes from two Americans. Although they come from different eras, they have a profound similarity.
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Those words were spoken by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
"It’s time to get on with living."
Those words were spoken by Jerry Seinfeld on September 25, 2001.
It’s time for terrorists to experience a taste of Clear and Present Danger for themselves.
The heroes whose relentless pursuit of human life at ground zero will never be forgotten.
The courage the possess in this, the ultimate mission of devotion to their fellow Americans, New Yorkers and all who were victims of a day we will never forget.
We Salute You!
The families, friends, children who mourn the loss of loved ones. From the Rockaways, to points afar, we mourn with you.
Our grief is constant – our hurt is deep.
Our determination is unshaken.
We will prevail
So help us God
