Personal Outrage

Personal Outrage

Dear Editor:

This is an open letter to those individuals who participated in, and who planned one of the most despicable acts of cowardice and makes that I have heard of in years.

On Sunday night past (Sept. 16) a carload of individuals dressed in Arab-garb patrolled our local streets with a video camera. They claimed to be doing a documentary on America’s feeling towards Arabs but their real intentions were apparently clear. They sought out young angry teens and asked them inflammatory questions in the hope of getting their responses on film. At a time when most people in this city, this country, this would are at their best. It is a PERSONAL OUTRAGE that people are using their time and resources in this manner. Not to mention any children. This typed of media manipulation is the lowest form of human behavior. I am extremely grateful that a car from the 100th Precinct stopped and diffused the situation before someone was hurt.

As a survivor of both World Trade Center attacks, I urge people not to let individuals with these types of intentions gain any measure of satisfaction. I believed it is to be an insult to all of victims and heroes of these past few days. Please do not taint their memories as acts, by engaging or assisting this type of behavior.

I would like to express my sympathy to all those families that have suffered losses and to thank many service people and volunteers that make me so proud that I live no place else in the world.

JOHN R. WILLSEN
