Buy Stock In America

Buy Stock In America

Last week’s terrorist attack touched all Americans and impacted on all of America’s institutions. Most of all, the attack impacted the Stock Markets of America both physically and psychologically. The physical damage can be fixed with time and money. The psychological damage goes much deeper and may take longer to repair. Just as people ran from the physical danger, they now run from the stock market, preferring to keep their money closer to home. Afraid for the future of both our stock markets and our banks, they are literally "burying" the money in their mattresses. That is not good for them and it is not good for America. We believe that this is the time to stand up and be counted, to show that we have faith in America and in its institutions. There is a danger that the terrorists can win a small victory if investors begin to pull their money out of the market and it falls sharply. We say that every American should buy at least one share of stock in an American company. If you can buy more, then do so. If each American bought one share, however, it would move the market upward and renew everybody’s faith in the system. It would send a message to the terrorists that they might have damaged a few buildings, but they can never damage the faith that Americans have in their system.
