Stunned By Tragedy

Stunned By Tragedy

Dear Editor;

Several years ago I wrote a letter to the Wave, and it was published after the Air France Concord disaster. The main point of the letter was to make Rockaway residents, politi- cians, and the FAA aware that human life is more important than saving a few extra dollars in jet fuel flying planes over the Rockaway peninsula.

At the time, and for years prior, the FAA ignored my pleas. After today’s orchestrated terror attack on our country, I wonder, as I have in the past, why Floyd Bennett Field was closed as well as Coast Guard Rockaway.

Once again I now know than money is more important than human life until a disaster occurs. I pray for the families, friends, rescue workers, and the United States of America, a country we love.
