By Howard Schwach

Four unidentified men were shot on Friday, August 17 in two separate incidents that took place one block and three hours apart.

According to official police sources, the first incident took plane at Beach 58th Street and Beach Channel Drive at 6:31 p.m. An unidentified man was walking on the drive when he heard a shot. He told police that he did not know that he was hot until he felt a sharp pain in his buttocks.

He took himself to Peninsula Hospital Center, where he was treated and reported in stable condition.

On Tuesday, August 21, Dennis Parks, 26, of 414 Beach 58 Street was arrested for the incident, according to police. He has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

In the later incident, three unidentified men were shot at 8:50 p.m. at Beach 59th Street and Beach Channel Drive, only one block from the earlier shooting incident.

According to police, the three men, aged 24, 42 and 59, were walking down the drive when a young Black male wearing a red shirt shot them. The shooter fled the scene.

The 42-year-old man, who sustained three wounds in his leg and shoulder, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

The other two men, each who sustained one shot to the leg or buttocks, went to Peninsula Hospital Center by private transportation and were treated and then released.

Police have no suspects in the later shooting.

The shootings follow by a week the shooting death of a young man at the Ocean Village Houses on Beach 59th Street.

Police officials say they have no reason to believe that the incidents were in any way related to each other.
