Dear Editor:

I’m surprised that Mr. Miller would do such a thing as to put garden apartments in the schoolyard. He is building nice two family houses and town houses in the area; I would think he would be building them in the schoolyard site.

We have a one and two family house already here and it would be nice and uniformed with the houses we already have. We don’t need some apartment building of three or more stories to block the open area that we are used too. He has some nerve to shove this project in our backyard without the community input.

We have lived here for 20 years or more and we have to live with this project that he wants or is going to build. He doesn’t live here! What is it to them what they build; it does matter to the community and we should have something to say about it, not like the building that they built on Beach 91 Street and Holland.

That building went up quickly so that we wouldn’t have time to say anything. This new building doesn’t belong in this area. The people of the neighborhood should have something to say. We should fight to stop it before they start.

The schoolyard has been empty for 30 years or so, what’s the hurry to build now? Put one and two family houses on the playland site, or is it because there is not enough money for their pockets?

What are our officials doing about it, nothing. It is election time; do they want our vote on September 11 or November 7? If so, let’s see them do something for our block.
