Frances Abbracciamento has achieved outstanding success in two arenas. She was recently honored for her many achievements by Borough President Howard Goldin. Frances owned and managed the outstanding Abbracciamento Restaurant on the Canarsie Pier. Her business acumen was readily apparent as she took the helm and created a renowned restaurant. Frances' focused business sense,
combined with her cheerful, outgoing personality, and turned Abbracciamento's Restaurant into a very successful establishment. People from far and wide were attracted to Frances' gracious ways combined with excellent food and a beautiful view. We spent many memorable evenings dining in this elegant atmosphere, with its musical accompaniment, the piano in the background. In the summer, everyone loved to eat out on the deck. Frances combined the best of both worlds - exquisite gourmet meals with beautiful surroundings. Eating on the deck was more than eating a meal; it was time spent away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life.  With Frances at the lead, her business prospered and expanded.  She knew what the public wanted and she delivered it in high style.
Frances was a pioneer who set an example as a role model, a trendsetter and a pacemaker. Frances' talents and hard work created a successful restaurant. She pioneered in a field in which 90% of people are unable to succeed.  The restaurant business is one where many people try but very few endure. Frances has motivation, talent, perseverance and determination.
Borough President Howard Golden honored Frances at Brooklyn Borough Hall for her success in business and education. Borough President Golden saluted Frances for her tireless and boundless energy on behalf of children and families. He recognized her outstanding achievements as a leader in our city.
Frances has succeeded in the educational arena also. Frances Abbracciamento saw a need and immediately responded to it.  She recognized
that one of the most important issues in life is the opportunity to receive a
first rate education.  In order to help children and families to improve the
educational system, Frances ran for and was elected to Community School Board 19, covering Cypress Hills and East New York. The other members of the school board immediately recognized her leadership ability and they elected her to lead them as their President.
As the President of Community School Board 19, Frances worked with parents, children, teachers and administrators to provide a first rate
education. Frances espouses the motto - "Let each become all that they are capable of being."  Frances worked continuously to provide an educational environment where everyone could prosper.  Frances agrees with the developmental psychologists who believe that we all have the desire to become fully functional, actualized individuals.  Frances believes that all through our lives we are continually striving to grow and improve. Through her leadership, sound educational policies and practices were implemented to provide an atmosphere where children and their parents can achieve success and fulfillment.
I congratulate Frances Abbracciamento on being honored by Borough President Howard Golden and on her other many awards. Frances accepted this honor with love, honor and humility. Frances praised the role that her Italian American roots had in her formation. She felt that her mother and father had a tremendous positive influence on her. They taught her to love her religion, her family and her cultural roots.  She continues to pass this on to her children, grandchildren and the community.
