From The Artists Studio by Susan Hartenstein
"Movies Under the Stars" will be presented Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4 by the Department of Parks and Recreation at the George Seuffert Bandshell in Forest Park, Woodhaven, Queens. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. each night.
Friday’s film, "Some Like It Hot," gives audiences the chance to savor the exquisite performances of Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe. Lemmon passed away a few weeks ago, so this presentation is particularly timely and poignant. The film also exhibits the brilliant writing and directing of Billy Wilder. Saturday, "West Side Story" is the feature. This musical film shows off the geniuses of Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Jerome Robbins.
