Breezy Point Par-Tee News

by Marion Lynch

As we set out to play, the morning birds were chirping away, paying little attention to flying balls, and refusing to abandon their bailiwicks. However, as some came perilously close to the action, most eventually moved on to safer climes. That left the course open to a dozen of our players who continue to score in the 60’s! Peggy Ansbro was low scorer of the day with a 61, while Nancy Heffernan followed with a 62. Doris Neimeth had a 63; Joan McNally and Terry Gearity tied at 65; Evelyn Gannon and Pam Armour evened off at 67; Dotty Dunne and Pat Disch both had 68; and Bunny GaNun (a new player) and Peggy Hurley finished the 60’s at 69. Kudos to all of you!

Janis Murphy (another new member) did herself proud with a 70, as did our seasoned member Muriel Hellreigel. Bernice Carroll scored 71; Teresa Kearney and Lil Keim tied at 72; Muriel Seligman had 73; Dorothy Chandler 74; Mary O’Rourke and Maureen Ris 75. Joan Fallon and Tina Spina evened off at 76; Evie McVeigh belted off a 77; Anne Prior and Inez Moriarity scored 78; and six of our players got under the wire with 79..Pat Powers, Anne Dowling, Mildred Murphy, Lil Hanratty, Peggy Joyce and Marge Driscoll. Great playing, gals, keep up the good work!

Birdies were scored by Nancy Heffernan on the 2nd and 13th holes; Terry Gearity on the 1st and 2nd; Lil Keim, Kate Hanratty and Bernice Carroll all rated the 5th their lucky hole, as they successfully sunk their birds. Peggy Ansbro sunk hers on the 2nd; Joan McNally on the 15th, and Doris Neimeth on the 17th. Chip-ins were scored by Vera Lynch on the 12th; Sally Fitzpatrick on 17; Tina Spina on 5; and Janis Murphy on 10.

Since Par-Tee has had its inception, Guys and Dolls has always been a big treat, and this year is no exception! By the time this column is printed, we will have set off with 20 teams, and next week’s column will be reporting the victors. In the meantime, the girls will be enjoying the guys helping us with the clubs and picking up our balls!!

Mary Kamper’s trip to Hunderton Playhouse is just about sold out and final details will follow. After the 50-50 club, Mary Sullivan awarded the extra prize she had promised last week. Bunny GaNun was the first recipient, and she went home $25 richer! To win the prize, one must be present at the luncheon, so gals keep that in mind! Check the scores for your Tee-off times. See you all on the greens (hopefully bird-free)!
