Wake Up The Post Office

Wake Up The Post Office

Dear Editor,

Upon reading the Wave on Saturday I found an article "Award for Rockaway Postmaster."

I think it is very nice for Mr.Buonocore to do such good work regarding the food drive for needy families, as there are so many of them here in Rockaway. But he is also being paid to be Postmaster and as such I think he should pay some more attention to that position.

I received a card in my mail box on June 25, that I had a certified letter – I was home and no one rang my bell – After making many, many, phone calls, I finally received this letter on July 5 – and only then because I went down and waited for the letter carrier in the lobby, this was a certified letter requiring a signature.

I was told by a young lady when I made one of my calls regarding this letter that the carriers have a lot of work to do and just can’t get to go to each apartment.

I think if a person feels a letter is important enough to spend the extra postage to have it delivered with care, it should be done in the proper manner.

We have a lot of trouble here getting our packages delivered (not just cards in the boxes) and more often then not the regular mail is put in the wrong box.

It is a situation that should be looked into, I am tired of trying to get someone to pay attention and it is impossible to get to speak to Mr.Buonocore, I’ve tried.

Maybe if you print this letter the Far Rockaway Post Office will wake up. Or maybe if our government officials are not too busy.

MARY ANN WELSH
