We Want Lew

We Want Lew

Dear Editor;

As a loyal Wave consumer for the past 36 years, I am deeply offended by your removal of Lew Simon's column. You state that your decision is based on the fact that since Lew is running for an elected position, it is not fair for him to have a column and not the rest of the candidates. You feel this would give Lew an unfair advantage.

Given the fact that Lew's column has been an integral part of The Wave for many years, and enjoyed by many, must carry no importance with you. If you really wanted to be fair and prove that this is not a personal vendetta against Lew, why not invite all the other candidates and offer them a column also. It would only be for a short period of time. I think the Rockaway population would enjoy this, give them a better perspective of all the candidates and perhaps, just perhaps, make The Wave look like a paper which disseminates information for the community and not a
paper used as a personal vendetta against Lew!

You seem to hang on to the fact that you believed Lew misled the community about a teaching license. Somehow, I really think I can forgive Lew
for that (and remember it never really was proven).

In addition, most of the country backed President Clinton for doing something much worse in the White House, a House which is supported by my tax dollars. Mr. Schwach, I respectfully request that you put an end to this vendetta and cover the more important happenings in Rockaway. There are many!

ANNE SASH
