This letter is a necessary response to the absolutely slanderous and
malicious correspondence you printed 06-16-01 by a misinformed and obviously jaded person who hides their comments behind the name of Outraged.
I was truly amazed and appalled at what you allowed to be printed in your newspaper, unless the mailbox section is geared more toward fiction than fact. It is obvious that Outraged is no more than an angry person venting toward any possible scapegoat they can place blame upon.
To malign and verbally slander the employee of the Alivad Associates Inc., the check-cashing establishment at 114-17 Rockaway Beach Blvd., with pure fabrication and trumped up charges of prejudice vividly shows what you allow to grace the pages of your newspaper.
After many years of working in the Rockaways, I was delighted to come
across the honest and pleasant surroundings and persons at the Alivad check cashing establishment. I said thank God that I no longer had to rely upon the thieves at the Peninsula check-cashing establishment of 87-12 Rockaway Beach Blvd. because of their dishonest practices. On several occasions more than fifty dollars was "forgotten" from the cashing of my paycheck.
When the new establishment at 114-17 Rockaway Beach Blvd. opened I was cautious at first because of my previous experiences at 87-12 Rockaway Beach Blvd., but now I am a faithful customer. I have been using their services weekly and find nothing but pleasant and thankfully honest employees working there. No longer do I worry about being short-changed.
As far as the outrageous individual's claims of prejudice, I can only say you are full of crap. Week after week, I am treated kindly and professionally, as are other customers. The employees go out of their way to assist customers, and they strive to maintain a level of professionalism and follow all the rules to avoid possible thievery.
I am not the type of person to sit and write letters because my schedule does not allow me the time to do so. But there was absolutely no way I would allow someone to disrespect and blatantly lie about the Alivad Check Cashing establishment. I also worried about why The Wave would publish such rubbish.
