On Wednesday, June 27, two young women were severely injured when they were jet skiing near the Cross Bay Bridge. They apparently lost control and slammed head-on into one of the columns underneath the bridge. Members of 2444 Harbor Patrol Unit acted quickly to save the women, whom were later transported to a nearby hospital. Heroes of the 2444 Harbor Unit: Officers Kevin Gallagher, Manuel Natera and Bob McCabe. Theodore Edwards, an employee of Bridge Bait and Tackle, witnessed the accident. "It all happened so fast.
