FDNY Brooklyn Basketball Wins Gold

FDNY’s Brooklyn Basketball Club played an undefeated week at the 2001 World Fire/Police Games in Indianapolis last week, capturing the gold medal.

The squads they beat were the Indianapolis PD, LAFD, then the LAPD in the semis, and the Police Department from Lithuania for the gold medal.

Rockaway residents dominated the team. Among them were Kevin "B.B." Murphy, Jack Bradley, Keith "Keef" Long, Kevin "coach Flathead" Coursey, John "John E. Huge" Miller, Pat "Fire it up" Nash (Surf Club) and Steve Collins (Division I, Sugar Bowl). Also on the team were Mike "Louie" Brennan, Brenden Connolly, Danny "Captain America" Keane, Angelo Cozza and Wil "Chewbacca" Downey.

Brooklyn Hoops would like to thank all of the FDNY members in their support and tell everyone else "calm down!"
