C.Y.O. Bantam Girls Take Soccer Championship

C.Y.O. Bantam Girls Take Soccer Championship

The Sixth Grade St. Francis De Sales Bantam Division won a close game against St Luke with a final score of 1-0.

The only score came early in the game with a corner kick by Michelle Raaf, which was guided in by Laura Lombardi. The rest of the game was all defense and tough play by the girls. The St Luke’s girls were big, fast and aggressive players. The St. Francis midfielders led by Candice, Ellen and Annie S. were up to the challenge and relentlessly blunted the offensive attack. Ricki led the defensive charge with Ally M., Ally B., Jessica, Jena and Julia.

Goal tender Kelly W. successfully blocked everything that came her way. This defensive group put up a barrier so Luke could not score. Lindsay, Michele M., Annie B., Katelyn, Adrianna, and Christina took turns keeping the ball away from St. Luke. Catherine went into the huddle and came out with the ball. Who knew she could dribble with her feet? Kelly Magee ran circles around her much larger opponents and stayed ahead of them with the soccer ball. This game was so exciting that even the ref said he enjoyed every minute of it.
