Most Wanted Criminal Apprehended

Most Wanted Criminal Apprehended

By Aaron Zeidman

On Thursday, May 17, 2001, police officers from the 101 Precinct successfully pursued and apprehended Sebastian Allen, a Most Wanted criminal listed in last week’s edition of The Wave.

Allen was being sought for his alleged involvement in a shootout outside of 20-17 Cornaga Avenue on March 31, 2001. A woman, Cindy Robinson of Far Rockaway, was accidentally struck in her right shoulder by a bullet during the exchange of gunfire. One suspect, Timothy Robinson of Far Rockaway, had already been arrested and charged with attempted murder. Until Thursday, a second suspect was still at large.

A search warrant was executed at Beach 26 Street where police knew that Allen was hiding. According to Sergeant Kelley of the 101 Precinct, a number of unsuccessful searches had already occurred at this location. The many abandoned bungalows nearby provided refuge to the fleeing suspect who had been alerted before police could arrive. But on May 17, narcotics officers targeted the address in the early morning, and the suspect was inside.

As officers were breaking down the door, Allen was able to make an escape through an open window and officers were not able to apprehend him at this point. However, a K-9 Unit tracked him down, and Allen was bitten in the buttocks by the pursuing dog.

A search of the Beach 26 Street address reveals that Allen had been living there. A copy of The Wave’s Most Wanted article was found in his dresser drawer.

Allen is now in custody and is being charged with assault in the first degree.
