Carnival Draws Ire

Carnival Draws Ire

Dear Editor;

This past weekend, there was a carnival at Beach 17 Street. At around 11:30 pm Saturday night, there were at least 100 + African American youths who had departed the carnival and taken to the streets of Beach 20th.
These youths were screaming,
throwing things, fighting and keeping traffic from passing through.  If a car honked their horn at them, they would literally stand in front of the car and not move.  It was the most horrendous scene that I've encountered in the 25 years that I have resided here.

The police finally showed up about 20 minutes later to disperse the crowd but even they had to speed off on other calls. It's things like this incident that make me want to move out of Rockaway faster.
