Guilty of Raping

Homeless Woman

A Far Rockaway man has pleaded guilty to raping a homeless woman after bringing her home and offering her a place to stay for the evening, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. The plea came just one day after the trial of the defendant, Willy Baddy of 38-08 Beach Channel Drive, began in Queens Supreme Court.

Baddy pled guilty to Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a weapon.

"The defendant betrayed his victim – a homeless woman – and brutally attacked her after offering her a safe place to sleep. His actions were reprehensible," DA Brown said.

According to police, the victim had been living on the street when the defendant offered her a place to stay for the night. Once inside his apartment, he reportedly beat the victim and raped her before she was able to flee.

The judge hearing the case, Justice Richard Buchter, indicated that he would sentence Baddy to six years in prison when he imposes the sentence on May 23.
