Looks as if the Breezy Point Bridge Club will be back in full force this year……Some of the Neponsit members were dining in Snug Harbor this past Saturday night and gave Helene and Peter Danzilo, the organizers of the Breezy Bridge Club, a warm welcome when they came to the table. I was there with them and Tom Connors when they introduced themselves: Dolly, (Delores) Sachs, recently widowed a year ago when her husband was struck by a car crossing a Neponsit street, (many of you probably remember the incident). Dolly is a staunch member of the Rockaway Artists Alliance. She was with Barbara and Cy Centrowitz, also bridge lovers. They were so impressed with how well Peter looks they were well-assured the Breezy Point Bridge Club will continue for another season with Peter at the helm.

Oh, and by the way, I thank those in Snug Harbor for their compliments on my "DO". I just came from Janet’s where Gary brightened and trimmed my locks….. A trendy hairdo can take years off you and it is far less expensive and not painful at all.

Ninety-nine year old Tess Crowley was hospitalized over the weekend but is expected to be released in a few days. Her neighbor, Al Martin, is still in the hospital and it is unknown when he will be home again.

Sister 2 Sister held their 12 Anniversary Awards Gala at the Puck Building featuring performances by Jive Recording Artist Syleena Johnson and Capital Records Recording Artist, Dark Blu. Jamie Forster Brown is the founder/publisher of Sister 2 Sister Magazine and is a Baby Booming Momma in a Hip Hop World. Jamie, a tri-lingual graduate of the University of Stockholm in Sweden, started the magazine in 1988 as an insider newsletter for the music industry. It has since become the only major audited international entertainment magazine completely owned by a Black female. It has been called the People magazine for African Americans. She hosts a twice weekly celebrity segment on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and has received many honors and awards. A portion of the proceeds for the evenings Gala will go to From Street to Skills Social Services.

Art for Animals promotes the rescue, care and adoption of companion animals in danger or in need through financial grants. They are caregivers to alleviate the suffering of all animals and they held a wine tasting and auction last week. The animals were welcome and present and many were given up for adoption. I met the "REAL" Serpico (the man who turned in the MOB) who has a compassionate heart for animals and the well-known Lorie Anderson with their pooches. A fun evening and one worth attending if you care for these four-legged, lovable creatures.

The Ten Best Dessert Chefs were at Bridgewaters, South Street Seaport to receive their awards and prepared their very special and delicious desserts for the guests. If you have a sweet tooth this was the place to be. No diabetics allowed. They were all so yummy, but why can’t they be made with sugar substitutes? I am sure they could make them taste just as good. Then they could have awards for the best sugar substitute dessert. It was a sweet time! Before I left I did get a shot with pastry chef winner, Piagio Settepani .

At the request of the WAVE my column has been snipped to leave room for the pictures which have not been printed the last three weeks. Why my column? …When other columnists write lengthier columns than I and include pictures? Some even two columns. I say if one columnist must adhere to this rule all should.
