Chamber, Wave to Sponsor Education Forum April 30

Rockaway residents and local school staff will have a chance to address public school issues when The Wave and the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce jointly sponsor an Education Forum at Beach Channel High School Monday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Featured panelists at the forum will include Terri Thomson, the Queens representative to the central school board and Matthew Bromme, the school superintendent for District 27.

Moderators for the evening will include Howard Schwach, Managing Editor of The Wave and John LaPore, Vice President of the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce.

Questions will be entertained from the floor. Among the potential issues to be discussed are rezoning Rockaway schools, overcrowded classrooms, new school buildings, potential magnet programs, the lack of certified teachers and classroom discipline.

"This forum is designed so that Rockaway residents will have a chance to question those people who have the most impact on decision making in our schools," a Chamber official said.

He urged all residents, particularly those with children in school or with children who will soon be entering school to attend.
