Beach Channel Crew Preps For Season

On Saturday, March 10, 2001, the new members of the Beach Channel High School Crew Team were able to use the indoor rowing ranks at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point. Thanks to arrangements made by Volunteer Coach and Alumnus, Robert Hughes, Varsity members were able to teach their new teammates how to row. The season is shaping up to be a successful and enjoyable experience for the 36 members of the team.

The Crew Team will travel to Marletta, Ohio, from April 6 to April 12, 2001, where they will practice two times per day in preparation for the following upcoming regattas (listed as regattas, location, date): L.I. Scholastic Rowing Invitation, Hempstead Lake in Long Island, Saturday April 21; New Jersey Scholastic Rowing Invitational, Cooper River in Cherry Hill New Jersey, Sunday April 29; Sagamore Rowing Club Invitational, Oyster Bay in Long Island, Saturday May 5; New York State Junior Championships, Saratoga New York, Saturday May 12; Eastern States Rowing Championships, West Point New York, Saturday May 19; USRA Junior National Championshp, location TBA, Saturday May 26.
