Theater Group Performs ‘Wizard Of Oz’
Follow The Yellow Brick Road Into Broad Channel

The Broad Channel Theater group will be performing The Wizard of Oz this weekend.  This is the fifth year anniversary of the group.  Past performances have been Grease, Some Like It Hot, Anything Goes and Broadway Echoes.

Founder, Margaret Wagner, went to some locals who are naturally gifted in dance, music and art. With their help the Broad Channel Theater Group was formed.

With no auditorium in Broad Channel, many people were pessimistic about the group’s ability to ever get this project off the ground.  With the involvement of Thomasina Ogden, Doris and Jay Dady, and Karen Schilling, the production of the group’s first play was underway. Along the way they were fortunate enough to add the expertise of Tim O'Connell, Billy Murray, and Liz Hayes. The production of their first play, Grease, sold out in two days.

This year the group has worked extremely hard and were able to add many new and talented faces.  A plus to this year’s show is that the group has incorporated some children and they have been professionals every step of the way.

This year the show stars:  Jamie
Putorti as Dorothy, Craig Boyle as the Scarecrow, Mark Wallace as the Lion, Pat Hanning as the Tin-Man, Margaret Wagner as the Wicked Witch, Karen Schilling as Belinda the Good Witch, Larry Prsetakiewicz as the Wizard, Barbara Porcheddu as Auntie Em, and Billy Murray as Uncle Henry.  Also featuring: Doris Dady, April Magliaro, Vita Didio, Donna Hemminger, Jane Murray, Kay Trudden, Thomasina Ogden, Linda Kittle, Sally Williams, Gerdien
Krohn, Linda Porcheddu, Jimmy McGinn, Cheryl McLeod, Terry D'Amelio, Jennifer Porcheddu, and Jessica Bennedetto.

Child stars are:  Stephanie Wagner,

The sound crew is Mark Magliaro, Jay Dady, and Ted Rauert, and lighting is Donny Minor and Tim O'Connell. Behind the scenes props and costumes: Doris Dady, Thomasina Ogden, Linda Kittle, Gloria Tubridy, Jim McGinn, Donna Hemminger, Sally Williams, Jay Dady, Jennifer Murray, Brian Kittle.  Behind stage: Matt Schilling, Billy Murray, and Terry D'Amilio.
