Theater Group Performs ‘Wizard Of Oz’
Follow The Yellow Brick Road Into Broad Channel
The Broad Channel Theater group will be performing The Wizard of Oz this weekend. This is the fifth year anniversary of the group. Past performances have been Grease, Some Like It Hot, Anything Goes and Broadway Echoes.
Founder, Margaret Wagner, went to some locals who are naturally gifted in dance, music and art. With their help the Broad Channel Theater Group was formed.
With no auditorium in Broad Channel, many people were pessimistic about the group’s ability to ever get this project off the ground. With the involvement of Thomasina Ogden, Doris and Jay Dady, and Karen Schilling, the production of the group’s first play was underway. Along the way they were fortunate enough to add the expertise of Tim O'Connell, Billy Murray, and Liz Hayes. The production of their first play, Grease, sold out in two days.
This year the group has worked extremely hard and were able to add many new and talented faces. A plus to this year’s show is that the group has incorporated some children and they have been professionals every step of the way.
