Useless Money Spent

Dear Editor;

Let us abolish the position of City Council. They are an example of public distrust and contempt toward politics and politicians.

Remember we once had a Board of Estimates. They proved to be a useless political body and were disposed of. The same could be applied to the City Council and their chores absorbed within each office of each Borough President.

The monies saved in salaries to be dispersed among the city’s real full-time workers such as the police, firefighters and teachers. Also, let us not forget the senior citizens by allowing them to continue receiving their six- day meal, which Mayor Guiliani has proposed to discontinue.

MILDRED SCHULMAN
