Local Swim Star Honored
One of Rockaway’s own was recently named co-Athlete of the Month by Brooklyn College. Elizabeth Nolan, one of Brooklyn College’s premier swimmers, had a phenomenal December. In BC’s three meets, she finished in second place twice and finished first three times.
On December 2, the Brooklyn College Bridges took on the John Jay College Bloodhounds. She played a key role and won the 100-meter freestyle. Then, against the College of Staten Island, she brought her "A-game." She finished second in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle and won the 100-meter individual medley. Sara Dowler, Brooklyn College’s Women’s Swimming coach, has called Liz "a natural talent."
Although the 100-meter individual medley seems to be Elizabeth’s strength (as recently demonstrated by a 25-second blow-out of Marymount’s Laura Fontanez), she does not limit herself to sports. She’s doing well academically and is also a member of her campus Student Advisory Committee.
Elizabeth Nolan is the quintessential student-athlete and looks to have a very bright future indeed.
