More Shots Fired Uptown - Cops Seek Community’s Help

By Joan Ward George

Cross County Federal Savings Bank, located on the Beach 129 street merchant strip, was the target of two random acts of shooting into the front window. The first incident occurred last Friday during the early morning hours, and the second hit was during the early morning hours of Monday, January 22.

These two shooting sprees followed on the heals of an incident that occurred last Wednesday evening when shots were fired into two private vehicles parked on Beach 143 street in Neponsit. No arrests have been made with relationship to last week’s random shooting attack. However, a local civic group erroneously reported to its membership that someone was arrested in the Beach 143 street incident. Although the police initially brought one person in for questioning, no arrests have been made.

Police are not saying that the three incidents are related, however, the possibility is being looked into.

Detectives from the 100 Precinct want the community to be aware that the shooters are still at-large, and they are looking to the community for help in catching the shooter(s). Anyone with information about any of the shootings that occurred uptown during the past week is encouraged to call Detectives Bouillion or Curran at 718-318-4224 or the Queens Detectives 24 hour number at 718-520-9200.
