Detectives from the 101 Precinct are looking for 32-year-old Marc Wilkinson, of 57-07 Shore Front parkway, for allegedly stealing his neighbor’s new computer, which was a Christmas gift for an eight-year-old child.

The complainant, who has asked that her name not be printed, purchased a computer at Radio Shack, to be delivered via UPS on December 21, 2000. The computer was a Christmas gift for the complainant’s daughter, a student in the gifted program at PS 106 in Far Rockaway.

"My daughter had been begging for a computer," said the complainant. I couldn’t get it for her birthday or last Christmas. I don’t make much...I worked hard to get it."

The complainant contacted UPS the day before the expected delivery to inform them that she would not be home. She was assured that the package would not be left, but a notice would be posted on her door that the delivery was attempted.

When the complainant arrived home and didn’t see a notice posted, she contacted UPS. She was informed that the driver, a temp, had inadvertently allowed a neighbor to sign for the computer. The UPS driver provided the apartment number and a physical description of the neighbor, which matched Marc Wilkinson.

According to information provided by the driver, Wilkinson saw him with the package and said, "I know her. I’ll take it." After he signed for the computer, Wilkinson allegedly removed the UPS notice off the complainant’s door. Two other neighbors in the building witnessed Wilkinson leaving the premises with a large box.

The complainant contacted the police, who visited Wilkinson’s apartment. His wife claimed she did not know where he was. He has not returned home since.

The complainant was surprised when a knock at her door resulted in her being face to face with Wilkinson. He allegedly begged her to drop the charges and said, "I could get it back," referring to the computer, which appears from that statement to have been sold. The complainant has not seen Wilkinson since that time.

Police have named Wilkinson a "Most Wanted" fugitive from justice. Wilkinson, who has 16 prior arrests, is 6’2" and 285 pounds. He also goes by Anthony Williams, Mark Knox, and Marhs Anthony.

"I’m hurt," said the complainant. "I don’t know how someone without care can do something like this. I’m a quiet person, but you don’t mess around with my little girl. I want him caught."

Anyone with information about Wilkinson’s whereabouts can contact Detective Joseph Savine of the 101 Detective Squad at 718-868-3429.
