Heroes Of The Month

Dear Editor;

On Friday, January 5 at about 10:50 p.m. there was a fire at 16-18 Mott place. Our heroes for the day were the 101 Precinct, where Deputy Inspector Scirica is in charge. The entire precinct, without regards for their own lives, helped exit people from the offices of the burning building through windows and fire escapes. They brought everyone to safety and returned all to the precinct to make sure everyone had a place to go.

The Fire Department came and took charge of the fire. Red Cross came and checked everyone’s apartment.

The community came together with clothes, shoes, and coats for the people. Ms. Jackie Bascome from the Jewish Center made sure everyone had food to eat. Ms. Gloria Housel, member of the Gateway Council Organization assisted Barbara Walker, president of the organization.

There were no deaths and we thank the 101 Precinct for their quick thinking, the super of the building, the Fire Department, Red Cross and the community for coming together in a time of need.
