6th Annual Broad Channel
Historical Day

      The Historical Committee of the Broad Channel Civic Association will hold its sixth annual Broad Channel Historical Day on Sunday, October 1, 2000 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at the VFW hall, Shad Creek road in Broad Channel.

      Days before the International Coastal Cleanup on September 16, park rangers from Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, a part of Gateway National Recreation Area, rowed out to the middle of the East Pond to rescue a cormorant that had become entangled in discarded fishing line.
