Changing With Times

Dear Editor;

The current term of jurist are extremely too long for modern time. It stagnates the very growth of the nation towards advancement. Its opinion, at times, tends to be partisans because of its party affiliation. It can be at times too easily coerced into making unfavorable decision.

In the true case of justice and fairness, the courts must continue its neutrality and remain blind to the cause of fairness. Because of non-term limitation, it tends to lax on its duty and responsibility to the nation’s citizen. The courts, as it is, has a non-accountability clause to no one including the citizens it’s there to serve. Unlike all other offices that are accountable to the people, this office continues to be unaccountable to anyone but itself, right or wrong.

We as Americans pride ourselves that our nation functions on a check and balance system, therefore, that pride should readily be instilled at the federal courts level. Until we instill these changes there will always be the question as to whether justice is truly blind to the cause or is justice sneaking a peek before making a decision. In this new world we live in (world of high-tech and television), there is always the possibility of lack in fairness. Our forefathers never envision these revolutionary changes in our society at the outset of the Constitution. However, they had hope that by setting the standards necessary to secure our nation we will continue to ensued and improve the standards they had diligently established. And if the thought of these changes should be compromised as unworthy or worthless, it will have seemed, that responsibilities to the people hired to serve would have been forfeited. Our nation is forever changing, morally, religiously, socially, and ethnically with new in coming majority (Hispanic) and out going minority (Caucasian). These are envisions never foreseen at the caucus of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Therefore, in lieu of a new millennium, changes will have to be made to identify with the nation new make-up and the order of a new world.
