Blue And Gray Lead The Day

On Saturday afternoon, December 2, with the scenic ocean backdrop, the Rockies Junior Division played back-to-back, action-packed matches. The tide was left crimson after game one as Joe Porcina’s Blue team gauged Toddy Farragher’s Purple team by a score of 7-4.

Blue scoring barracudas include: Darnell Ho-Coon and Nick Mohr each with a goal, Sean Kirby with two and James Brown with a hat trick. Joe Porcina jr. assisted on six goals while sister Kristy gets credited for a fine job in the net. Michael Porcina played a noteworthy defense as Thomas Kirby did a darn good job on offense.

Purple Pac-men include "Fast" Eddie Warren and Andrew Ambrosecchio, who each put the puck in the net once, and Mary Ann Diehm who connected with the net twice. Daniel Paskoff performed wonderfully in goal while the Brothers Kayam (Michael and Arik) provided unfailing coverage of the purple lines. Michael Rheen, Billy Ormsby and Sean Towey lent much needed offensive support.

Late in game two, the fine line between gray and white became increasingly clear as Chris Reilly’s Gray juniors went ahead to win 5-2 over John Moore’s White team.

Gray goal-scorers include: Zach Young (1), Jon-Michael Brothers (2) and Chris Reilly (2). Greg Pulkoski did a fine job goaltending as teammates Sean Cordes and Christopher Burti made a big contribution defensively. Jason Perrone and Connor McCauley sparked the second-line offense while third-line center Keenan Thomas’ play just gets better and better.

White hope came from Eric Negron and Brenden Meade, who each came through with a goal. Nick Cholakis was super in the net while William Trusstum showed strong offensive effort. Thomas Ryan and Thomas McElhatton played awesome defense while Jimmy McCababe played in his usual consistent, strong style.

Junior hockey play will continue today, Saturday, December 9, at the usual times, 11 a.m. and 1p.m., and will be followed by the league Christmas party in the Hole in the Wall (old Rain Tower Tavern) from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Remember to bring your sneakers and your Toys–For–Tots gift.
