Another One For Lew
As the director of the Neponsit Adult Day Health Care Center I can say, without hesitation, that we would not be a successful and intricate part of the Rockaway community if not for Lew Simon.
When Neponsit Health Care Center closed, Lew reacted as an advocate for those living in the home and for the almost 300 residents of Rockaway who were employed there. He should be praised leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to reopen the Neponsit Health Care Center. Unfortunately, the building still stands and there is no definite decision.
The Adult Day Care Center, however, reopened almost immediately and we are very grateful to Lew for all his tireless work and efforts on our behalf. We currently occupy a temporary site at the Young Israel of Far Rockaway Synagogue on Beach 9 street. Lew was with us every step of the way through the difficult negotiations that were needed to make this happen. Now he offers 100 percent of his support in our efforts to move to a permanent site.
I am thrilled to report that our program is thriving. We are maintaining the same quality of services and treating the same number of people that we always have. There were many hurdles and jumps to reach this goal. Throughout all the difficult maneuvers, Lew has stood by us and helped to make our program the success it is.
