Meet The Irish...

Meet The Irish...

Thanks to the Donegal people who keep the memorial of James Haggerty, Irish and American patriot, fresh in the minds of both Ireland and America.

When the 69th Regiment was ordered into battle, Lt. Colonel Haggerty of Bleeker street, New York, did not hesitate to answer the call to President Lincoln.

"A" Company has led the St. Patrick’s Day Parade since 1852. The people cheer for the 69th as they did since the first march up Fifth avenue in 1852. All hail to them! May they be blessed with esteem forever!

The months into March (and St. Patrick’s Day) fly along after Christmas. Many people visit the hero Haggerty’s grave in Woodside. See map of graveside.
