Dorothy Dunne...

Hope all of you had a happy Thanksgiving.

Breezy Point’s Emeril OGrassi (Joe Fata) played master chef for the day with the help of his wife, Caryn and mother-in-law, Gladys Crowley, whose specialty is preparing two tasty meat dressings. It was all completely catered to the matriarch of the family, 99 year old Tess Crowley.

Willie and Mary Burns from Rockaway were guests of my son, Kevin Matuozzi, and his wife Julie and his daughter, Samantha, at their home in Encinitas, California. Julie’s mom and dad were also present for the feast.

Claire and John Hughes entertained their family and Shirley Hanrahan. The Hughes just returned from an Army reunion in Mobile, Alabama and then went on to visit friends in Las Vegas where they tried their luck at the gaming tables and toured the magnificent Grand Cayon. They had a wonderful time.

Ronnie McCarthy had a great deal to be thankful for, and, the most recent was the removal of the cast on her injured leg. Speedy recovery, Ronnie.

Patty and Bobby Crowley and daughter, Nicole, traveled to Connecticut to dine with Patty’s sister, Claire, and their large family. Kathy and George Pierce, and their family, dined at Roxbury Barn. Kennedy’s, of course, packed them in as usual. They got patrons from all boroughs as well as a big Breezy Point crowd.

The new spa is getting under way at Seaside next to the physical therapy building. Many Rockawayites can’t wait till this comes to fruition. I got a peek at Janet’s new salon that is being moved next to the bank and it is beautiful! She has a special foot massager and chair massager that is all in one that will send you on the nod in no time. Janet designed the salon herself and ordered all new furniture. Even Gary, my wonderful hair stylist and colorist, is thrilled with it. Talk about the beautiful people in Rockaway between the spa treatments and beauty treatments. We can’t miss!

Among some of the celebrities at the 28th International Emmy Awards Gala were: Lara Dutta, Miss Universe; Ann Curry, NBC anchor; Jessie Marin of Law and Order; Donna Hanover and Maury Povich. The evening event honored excellence in global television programming.
