Pee Wee Stars Pounce Great Neck

New York Stars Pee Wee "C" team came back after two disappointing losses last weekend.

On Saturday, the Stars played the Staten Island Sharks at Clove Lake. Although the Stars lost, they were able to put three on the board with Sean McAllister scoring 2 and 1 from newly named captain Kenny Shatzkes.

Sunday, however, the Stars came out flying at Abe Stark arena. Goalie John D’Adamo, who played a great first period in net, shut out Great Neck with defensive help from Eugene Korostyshevsky, Eddie Finnegan and Kevin Leonard. Sean McAllister scored the first goal for the Stars. In the second period with the Stars down 2-1, Mike Carney, Kenny Shatzkes, Eddie Finnegan and John McGee successfully killed off a Great Neck power play. The offense then came alive with goals from Brendan Tracy, Thomas Votto and John McGee, which put them up 4-2 going into the third.

Great Neck did not give up. They cut the Stars lead to 5-4 after Tracy scored his second goal of the game. Forchecking and pokechecking by Douglas Cohen, Josh Farley, Greg Korostyshevsky, and Mikal Oshkin, along with great saves by goalie Sean Rock, kept Great Neck off the board for the rest of the game.

The Stars added three more goals from McGee and Tracy, which gave him a hat-trick, and the last one by McAllister from Carney and Shatzker, making the final score 8-4.
