Could it be true? A Glatt Kosher deli on Beach 116 street. According to a sign posted on a storefront (next to Blockbuster Video), it looks like we are finally getting a kosher deli here in Rockaway. The dinner dance was held at Ricardo's by the Bridge and attended by an overflow crowd. More ... Congratulations to our local incumbents who swept the local districts with votes of confidence. Hard work reaps its just rewards. They have worked hard to bring recognition and increased improvements to the Rockaways, although there is still a great deal to be done. "Interior - Exterior" will run from January 20 through February 18, 2001 in sTudio-6, Fort Tilden. The show will feature works that depict interiors, exteriors, scenes from the inside looking out or from the outside looking in. Pieces to be submitted should be brought to sTudio-6 (building T-6) on January 14 from 1-4 p.m. or January 15 from 4-6 p.m. The reception is to be held Saturday, January 27 from noon to 3 p.m. in sTudio-6. With all its suitable pomp and pageantry, the Queens County Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee began its 2001 parade season with its first fete in honor of its honorees last Sunday, November 12. Nearly 200 people stepped out to The Beach Club to dine, dance, and celebrate those who have made their mark with distinction in the Irish community. More ... The local election results prove once again how tough it is to beat an incumbent. All of the incumbents were returned to office, most of them with pluralities well over 70 percent. I do want to congratulate all of the winners, however, even those I did not personally endorse. By the way, from my perspective, never has The Wave been so wrong in its endorsements. Why do newspapers endorse politicians in the first place? The first "endorsement" came from the pen of Horace Greeley, who wrote of Abe Lincoln in 1862, "a great proportion of those who triumphed in your election and all who desire the unqualified suppression of the rebellion now desolating our nation are sorely disappointed by the policy you seem to be pursuing."
