On The Beach

As I write this column, it is the morning after and it has not yet been determined just who will be the next President of the United States. It has been decided that Hillary will be Senator and therefore, it looks like the liberals are coming! It is my hope that along with the liberal policies of Chuck Schumer, coupled with the even more liberal policies of Hillary Clinton, that New York doesn't decline from the many advances we've seen under Republican leadership. It will, however, certainly be interesting to watch the Hillary saga continue. The people of New York are very generous to have given Hillary a job. Who knows, perhaps Bill Clinton will run again for the Presidency in four years. I don't believe this man will go quietly into that good night! On the local level, I must remark that I was pleased that the local congressional and assembly elections were rather clean and dignified. It's interesting to note that the country has not seen such a strong voter turn-out as was demonstrated in this election season; and in many New York areas, there were lines with well over a two hour wait to vote. It's indicative that people really took the contest and the issues very seriously.

My condolences to the family of Leo Regino. We will miss his presence, his blunt and witty ways, and the way he could tell a joke. He left too soon. He was so well liked and will be missed by many.

Get well wishes to William McMahon who was recently in Peninsula hospital.

If you haven't obtained tickets to the Saint Patrick's Day Parade fundraiser to be held at the Beach Club this Sunday, November 12, then you may be out of luck. Tickets to this affair, which celebrates the honorees may have sold out the day they became available. Honorary Grand Marshalls Barbara J. Morris and Robert Spata will be joined by Grand Marshalls Kathleen Mitchell-Micelli, who is the new secretary of the Parade Committee in Manhattan and former president of the United Irish Counties. The male grand marshall is Michael McGuire who is the secretary treasurer of the District Council Local 79 Labor Union.

If you haven't purchased tickets for the "100 Club" raffle, you may still do so by contacting Barbara Morris at West End Realty.
