Stars Pee Wees Deflect Arrows

By Mike Carney

The New York Stars Pee Wee C team got their second win in a row with a 3-0 shutout over the Arrows at Abe Stark Arena in Coney Island.

Goalies Sean Rock and John D'Adamo faced 17 shots and stopped them all.  They had help in the first period from the aggressive play of Thomas Votto, Greg Korostyshevsky, Mike Carney, Douglas Cohen and Kenny Shatzkes.

The offence started rolling when Eugene Korostyshevsky had great scoring chances and Brendan Tracy hit the post halfway through the period.  Finally with 22 seconds left in the second, John McGee stole the puck and went in and put the stars up 1-0. The forechecking and smart play continued when Sean McAllister, Kevin Leonard, and Jonathan Andjelovic broke up several scoring chances by the Arrows.  Goal number two was made possible by the great hustle by Brendan Tracy to force a turnover and put the goalie out of position.  The puck was slid in front where Josh Farley put it in for his first goal of the season.  Mikhail Okshin made it 3-0 with the assist going to Eddie Finnegan and John McGee.

When the face-off, in their zone with six seconds left, was pushed up the boards, the boys preserved the shutout and got their second win in a row.
