Rockaway Rockies Red Mites Top Green Mites, 4-3

Rockaway Rockies
Red Mites Top Green Mites, 4-3

On Sunday morning, the Rocky Red Mites topped the Green Mites (4-3) in three periods of non-stop, rockem- sockem action.

Goaltenders Robert Peters and Michael Mangano did a great job defending their respective nets against many opposition shots. Anthony Allocco bought into several breakaway attempts. Connor and Sean Strongeen led some wild drives into the offensive zone. Maegen Reed and Cathryn Brown bolstered the Red defense. Diedre Munday assisted Thomas Kirby on his first career goal as a Rockey. Nicholas McElhatton scored a goal and John McCabe put the puck in the net twice.

The Green’s Michael McCarthy scored twice with the assist credit belonging to Kieren Ross and Max Linden.

Star of the game goes to Michael Mangano for scoring two goals (assist credit to Kieren Rogers and Brendan) and getting all those beautiful breakaways. This Gatorades for you!

Red Coaches Sean Kirby and Kevin O’Connor and the Red players were thrilled with the win. Black team Coaches Frank Mangano and Dancer Rogers were thanked for "letting a bunch of little kids know what it feels like to ‘win one’."
