This past Saturday in the Rockaway roller rink the Rockey Hockey League Junior Division began it’s second week of intramural games. The Juniors are composed of local boys and girls aged eight to 11 interested in playing and learning the game of hockey in a competitive yet fun environment.
In the first round of play, Joe Porcina’s Blue team faced-off against the Gray team, coached by Chris Reilly and Chris Cordes.
Highlights were as follows: Joe Porcina jr., Nick Mohr, Zach Wade, Jonathan Michaels, Michael Hennessy and Michael Shields each scored a goal. Sean Kirby scored twice. Chris Reilly got a hat trick. Jon-Michael Brothers was the high-scorer of the day with a grand total of five goals. Danny Munday and James Pareja did a fine job goaltending.
The final score was Blue 5 and Gray 11.
In the second match, the Purple team, coached by Toddy Farragher, faced-off against John Moore’s White team.
Scoring highlights were as follows: Sean Seiderman, Timothy Arasin, T.J. Liable, Darnell Ho-Koon, Michael Mahoney, Eric Negron and William Trusttum each finessed the puck into the net once. Mary Anne Diehm and Michael Annan scored two goals apiece and Nicholas Cholakis got a hat trick. Neil Howard did a fine job protecting the White net for two periods of play.

"Let there be light" in the Rockaway rink became a reality this month thanks to Toddy Farragher who single-handedly got the job done! This much needed and long awaited lighting allows the kids to practice more frequently and at more convenient times. Hooray Toddy!
