From The Shores...

On Tuesday, December 12, at 2:45 p.m.,, the Beach Channel High School library will hold a book club discussion meeting for faculty, students, all parents, and those of the public who would like to attend.

P articipants will have read any Harry Potter book and be prepared to discuss it and its themes in this friendly, informal setting.

The four Harry Potter books are: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone; Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban; and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Any of the above-listed books is acceptable to us.

You may think that this series is intended for a younger audience, however, the books are fun to read. Our students are fascinated with magic and the series is an example of good fantasy genre writing. Also, the plots and characters are well developed, etc. Most importantly, the initial response to the selection of the Harry Potter series has been encouraging.

Previous book club discussion meetings were successfully received. Everyone particularly liked that teachers, staff and students interacted equals.

Should anyone be interested in joining us, we would like to hear from you. Our phone number is 945-6900, extension 188, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. We also welcome feedback as well as suggestions for future book selections. Come and join us!

We will meet in the library.
