From The Rock…
Homecoming Celebrated

Saturday, October 28 is Homecoming Day at Far Rockaway High School. Traditionally, Homecoming marks the end of the varsity football season with the last game for seniors of the football season; however, Saturday’s contest between the FRHS Seahorses and the Owls of William Cullen Bryant High School will be the next to last. (The Seahorses will play their final game of the season against Long Island City High School on November 4.) The Seahorses will play Saturday after a three game winning streak with a league standing of four wins and two losses, having played to a total of 4 and 3 overall.

The Far Rockaway-Bryant game will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the Far Rockaway High School athletic field. Before the game, at 10:30, festivities will begin with a pre-game ceremony honoring the team’s seniors: Jason Cummings, Carlos Denys, Dwayne Greene, Luis Ossandron and Harold Whitner. The parents of these students will also be introduced.

Halftime will feature a performance by the Far Rockaway High School Steppers as well as the event that has kept our whole student body in suspense: the naming of our Homecoming king and queen. Over 20 contestants for these honors were interviewed by the football team, its advisors, Mr. Sabbah and Mr. Hernandez, and COSA, Ms. Ignieri. As a result, five princesses were named from among whom the queen was chosen.

The names of all winning contestants will be announced at the game. Admission will be free for FRHS Student Organization members and $1.00 for anyone else.
